Mixed weekend at Monster Mountain for Jesse

I spent the weekend at Monster Mountain with Cotswold MX and Severn Valley MX in a joint meeting at the track. We had pretty much a full gate of Big Wheels, both days were for Championship points with Cotswolds so I had to get some good points to set my Championship up.

Although the track had a lot of water the day before it was mega dusty from the word go. Went out for free practice and the dust was really bad and track was really hard with no lines or ruts to work on.

Race 1 – The track just wouldn’t rut and all I had to work on was dusty berms. I felt like I was struggling because what I had been working hard on just was forming on track and unfortunately I binned it . I placed 15th overall and 7th Cotswold rider home.

Race 2 – Good start off the gate got up with the top 10 . Rode a really good race and held out to come back in 12th and 5th Cotswold rider.

Race 3 – Another decent start struggled to make passes as I think I was a bit put off by the visibility and the track being watered mid race. Got to 15th and 7th Cotswold rider back. Went to bed early as I wasn’t feeling the best I really felt unwell with a cough and cold only to be woken every couple of hours with the howling wind and rain about blowing the van over. Waking Sunday morning I just felt awful headache ,sinuses and a sore throat. Mum gave me what she could and I was went out to race.

Race 4 – I absolutely blew the start and coming into the first corner I was pretty much last. I was mad with myself because I know I can do better. I managed to ride back to 18th. 8th Cotswolds rider.

Race 5 – Lined up for race 5 and I really wanted a better race but it seemed life had other ideas for me! I only went and put it into 3rd gear and when I took off Well that’s the thing I didn’t take off the poor bike choked and when I realised it was too late. As they say rookie mistake cost me big time. 15th overall and 6th Cotswold rider home.

Race 6 – I was mentally beaten by this time felt absolutely rotten but I didn’t give up. Headed to the line for the last time to try finish the weekend on a more positive note. Went out ok start and it could only happen to me a bike went down in front of me I had nowhere to go apart from over the bike and as I’m going cross country 5/6 bikes went round the outside. I couldn’t believe it !16th overall, 6th Cotswolds rider home.

In closing I was disappointed with myself because I am just as fast as if not faster than the boys ahead of me just the decisions I chose to make on the weekend weren’t the right ones. It really didn’t help that I was as feeling so unwell . But I can assure you my time is coming and when it does anyone who is now ahead of me with definitely be behind me and I won’t be looking back.

Once again thank you NORA CRS Development Team and Coach Robb and everyone else by my side. For now I am going to take my honey, lemon and vicks to bed and get over this stinking cold.
