The second round of the Monster Masters Midweek Race Series took place on Wednesday 23rd July at Monster Mountain. Big Wheel 85cc rider headed to the event with eyes wide open hoping for another good result following the opening round. The day started well until a flat tyre following practice session 1 and that was just the start. Sadly during the second practice session the bike seized, but when everyone thought it was the day over.
Jesse’s dad came to the rescue with minutes to spare before the opening race with a new bike and even though Jesse was 20 seconds behind everyone else and jumping onto a bike he hadn’t tested managed to secure himself 11th for the opening moto.
Read how the day went from Jesse’s perspective below.

Jesse headed to Round 2 of the Monster Masters at Monster Mountain on Wednesday. After having a really great first round coming back with a great 3rd place Jesse was hoping for a great performance again. He enjoys this track with its nice sweeping start straight, its roller section and high jumps.
Practice Session 1 – I went out for practice did 2 laps standing followed by some sighting laps as it had just rained and when it rains at Monster Mountain, we all know the track changes straight away.
Practice Session 2 – Before being able to go back out we had to change the front tyre as it had come back with a 4 inch nail it. It was definitely a start of things to come. Coming into the second lap I went over a jump and as I did the whole bike seized and came to a complete stop. The bike had broken again!

Qualifying – Unfortunately I didn’t make qualifying as I didn’t have a bike but dad had a plan to get me back on the track and racing as soon as possible.
Race 1 – I thought this was the end of the day and as I was getting out of my kit, dad had managed to find a bike for me and like a knight in shining armour he pulled back up to the track with minutes to spare as my race was already on the line. As they left the line I got there knowing I was already 20 seconds behind and on an untested bike I hadn’t ridden before I took off into the unknown. Coming back in 11th at the end of the race.
Race 2 – After making a few major adjustments to the new bike it was time for the second race. The nerves were definitely there knowing I didn’t have my holeshot device on. I wheelied off the start and really tried my best but I just hadn’t gelled with the bike enough and my confidence just wasn’t there. I did manage to come back in 10th.

Jesse finished 10th overall for the day not what he wanted but we are so very proud of him for remaining calm, mature and grateful in such an awful situation. He showed true resilience.
Hoping for a good weekend at Landrake with Cotswolds Youth & AMX Club and a really good race report for you guys.
Once again thanks to NORA CRS, Coach Robb and everyone else who has helped me these last few weeks.
WE ARE NORA!
